The Story

The Rainbow Bar & Grill, on the famous Sunset Strip, is one of the most legendary bars in Los Angeles rock history. Opened in 1972, it became a permanent meeting point for musicians and industry figures, especially from hard rock and heavy metal. Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead had a reserved table and frequented the bar until his death in December 2015. John Lennon, Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, and Ronnie James Dio, who has a mural on the side of the building, are also part of this history. The Rainbow Bar has become a symbol of Los Angeles rock culture, preserving the atmosphere of the Sunset Strip's golden age to this day.
