The Story

Opened in 1971, Probe Records was the cultural hub of Liverpool's alternative music scene for decades. Pete Burns of Dead or Alive worked there. Ian McCulloch and Julian Cope of Echo and The Bunnymen were customers. The store promoted post-punk releases years before the genre hit the mainstream. It moved locations several times and still operates today in the Bluecoat arts center.
