Opened on March 1, 1928, the Paramount is one of Seattle's largest and most ornate theaters, with decorations inspired by the Palace of Versailles in France. On October 31, 1991, Nirvana played one of the most well-documented shows of their career at this venue. The concert was released as Live at the Paramount and is considered the definitive live recording of the band. David Bowie, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Madonna have also performed on this stage. It is still active.
