The Story

This arena, officially named Estádio Jornalista Felipe Drummond, was inaugurated in 1980 and is the largest indoor arena in Brazil, with a capacity for 25,000 people, located next to Mineirão in the Pampulha sports complex. On June 9, 1990, Legião Urbana recorded the track "Se Fiquei Esperando Meu Amor Passar" here, the only one from the live album As Quatro Estações recorded outside the main show in São Paulo. Iron Maiden made their first appearance in Belo Horizonte at Mineirinho on March 18, 2009, as part of their Somewhere Back in Time tour. Sepultura, a band founded in Belo Horizonte in 1984, also performed on the arena's stage throughout their career. For decades it was the city's main venue for large-scale concerts before the arrival of more modern arenas, also hosting historic sporting events in volleyball and futsal.
