The Story

This theater opened on June 26, 1911, and it was here that Michael Jackson and Ola Ray exit the cinema in the opening scene of the "Thriller" music video, in 1983. Only the exterior scenes were filmed here, as the interior of the cinema in the video is actually the Rialto Theatre, in South Pasadena. After Jackson's death in 2009, the marquee once again displayed his name for months as a tribute. Restored in 2011, it continues to function as an event space and filming location.
