The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland
1925
This neoclassical theater opened in 1925 at the same address as a previous 1866 playhouse, becoming at the time the largest two-story stage in the country, with a capacity for 2,350 people. The Beatles performed there several times throughout their career, including a show on March 24, 1963, in the same week of the release of their debut album Please Please Me. In December of that year, already in the midst of Beatlemania, they were received like true stars, with fans stopping traffic on Lime Street. Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland also graced the same stage throughout its history. The theater is a Grade II listed building, still active with a program of musicals, comedy, and concerts.
