The Story
The cover was photographed inside the Archway Tavern, in north London. The Victorian pub became the setting for one of The Kinks' most celebrated albums. Ray Davies grew up in Muswell Hill and used the spot as a symbol of North London's working-class culture. The pub still stands on Archway Road.
