Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone, Nirvana
· 1985
The first Fluevog store in the United States, opened in 1985 at Second Avenue and Pine, and the most unlikely landmark in Seattle music history. Susan Silver, who managed Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Screaming Trees, ran this store while managing bands, conducting meetings from the stockroom. Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Jerry Cantrell, and Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone all hung out here. Fluevog was the first store to import Dr. Martens to North America. The boots became inseparable from grunge fashion. Still open at the same address.
