Sepultura, Sarcófago, Overdose, Holocausto

Founded in 1980 on Avenida Augusto de Lima as a rock record store, Cogumelo became a record label in 1985 and released Sepultura's first EP that same year. But before it was a label, it was a meeting point. The metalheads of BH would gather on the sidewalk out front, drinking, trading cassette tapes, discussing obscure foreign bands, and planning their own bands. The store attracted the Cavalera brothers and many other metalheads from the region. Morbid Visions, Bestial Devastation, Sarcófago's I.N.R.I., and the entire foundation of Brazilian metal emerged from here. For metal fans, it's an obligatory pilgrimage.
