The Story

The legendary concert hall was opened in 1891 by Andrew Carnegie. Tchaikovsky conducted its inaugural concert. The Beatles played their first New York City concert here, on February 12, 1964, one day after their US debut in Washington D.C. Benny Goodman’s 1938 concert is regarded as the moment jazz entered the mainstream. More than 130 years of uninterrupted live music.
