The Story
The 24-hour restaurant/deli on Fairfax Avenue was where musicians went after shows or recording sessions. Joni Mitchell, Jim Morrison, Frank Zappa, and Lenny Bruce were regulars. The Kibitz Room bar in the back hosted impromptu performances by names like Guns N' Roses, Fiona Apple, Mick Jagger, and Sting. Recently, the cover of HAIM's album Women in Music Pt. III was photographed inside the diner by Oscar-winning director Paul Thomas Anderson.
