The Story

The Midtown edifice housed one of the greatest concentrations of songwriting talent in music history. Burt Bacharach and Hal David penned hit songs in their offices here throughout the 50s and 60s, while Carole King and Neil Sedaka did the same across the street at 1650 Broadway, home to the legendary Aldon Music. Together, these two addresses defined the "Brill Building sound" that shaped pop music for a generation.
