The Story

This 15th-century mill on the banks of the River Thames in Oxfordshire became famous for appearing on the cover of Black Sabbath's debut album in 1970. The photo was taken one morning by photographer Keith Macmillan. The mysterious figure in black was a model named Louisa Livingstone, who grew up to make electronic music under the name Indreba. In 2022, the mill was vandalized by teenagers who broke all the windows. The incident was reported worldwide as it is an important location for metal fans. The mill is still operational and can be visited with a ticket. The location is about 1 hour and 20 minutes from central London by car.
