This studio operated on West 54th Street, was one of the largest independent recording studios in the United States. Founded in 1950, it grew over the decades recording hits by Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers, Dionne Warwick, The Drifters, Ben E. King, including the classic Stand by Me in 1961. Between November 10 and 16, 1973, Kiss recorded their self-titled debut album here. The studio closed in 1976. Between 1981 and 2002, The Hit Factory Broadway occupied the same address, with five studios. Bruce Springsteen recorded the classic Born in the U.S.A. here in 1984. Paul Simon recorded Graceland in 1986, Cyndi Lauper recorded True Colors, and Michael Jackson produced Dangerous. The building witnessed two completely different eras in music history. Today, a Hilton Garden Inn stands in its place.
