Bad Animals Studio

The Story

In 1991, sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, from Heart, invested in this studio in Belltown and renamed it Bad Animals, in homage to their 1987 album. This is the same facility where Heart recorded their biggest hits of the 1970s. Nancy described the purchase as financially imprudent. During the acquisition, Soundgarden recorded Superunknown here, Nirvana remixed Heart-Shaped Box, and Pearl Jam recorded Vitalogy. The building was demolished in 2018. The studio now operates at 2247 15th Ave W in Interbay.
