The Story

This store was founded in 2014 by Paulo Sakae Tahira, DJ Paulão, and Ramiro Zwetsch, Ramiro Z, two fundamental names in the rediscovery of São Paulo's 70s Black dances and the legacy of Brazilian Black music. First located on the mezzanine of a flower shop on Rua Mourato Coelho, it moved in April 2015 to its current address on Rua Fidalga, in the heart of Vila Madalena. The collection focuses on samba, MPB, Brazilian groove, jazz, soul, funk, R&B, rock, reggae, and Afro and Latin rhythms. Since July 2015, the "Vai na Fé" party has been held weekly, featuring resident DJs, album and book launches, and a small dance floor. In 2018, Patuá made the leap from store to label and continues to re-release Brazilian music rarities.
