The Story

On 20 August 1991, nearly 20 all-female and female-fronted bands performed the Girl Night here. The opening concert of the International Pop Underground Convention organized by K Records' Calvin Johnson. It was the debut show of Heavens to Betsy with Corin Tucker, who would later co-found Sleater-Kinney. The event launched Riot Grrrl into public consciousness. The official name was Love Rock Revolution Girl-Style Now, taken from a Bikini Kill demo cassette.
