London Calling Discos

The Story

This store in Galeria do Rock was founded in 1986 by Walter Thiago. The name was inspired by The Clash classic and already shows the concept of the place, but the collection includes rock, electronic music, indie, and Brazilian music. One of the fundamental figures in the store's history was the late Kid Vinil, a friend of Walter and an essential figure for the evolution of the post-punk, punk rock, and alternative scene in Brazil. Over more than three decades, London Calling hosted autograph sessions and live performances with the Buzzcocks, Ramones, and Lemmy Kilmister. Members of Kiss, Black Sabbath, Mötley Crüe, Marilyn Manson, and Guns N' Roses also visited the store. A photo gallery on the walls documents decades of this living history of rock in São Paulo. Still active.
