A tiny bar at the beginning of Avanhandava Street, it was founded by Luís Carlos Paraná. It couldn't hold more than a hundred people, but its tables were graced by Jorge Ben, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Maysa, Paulo Vanzolini, Adoniran Barbosa, Toquinho, and foreigners like Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, and Earl Hines. In 1968, three musicians hired as the house band, Fritz Escovão, Nereu Gargalo, and João Parahyba, formed Trio Mocotó. The frequent encounters between the trio and Jorge Ben gave rise to the style that would define the artist's entire career. The Jogral had three addresses throughout its life, with this one on Avanhandava Street being the most remembered. Today, the street is cited as one of the most beautiful streets in São Paulo.
