Jair Rodrigues no Cemitério Gethsêmani

The Story

One of the great voices of MPB in the 1960s, famous for "Disparada" and his energetic stage presence alongside Elis Regina on the show "O Fino da Bossa." Jair had a unique way of singing, almost spoken, almost recited, which earned him the affectionate nickname "the first Brazilian rapper" decades before the genre existed here, especially in hits like "Deixa Isso Pra Lá." He died in 2014 and is buried in Gethsêmani Cemetery, in São Paulo.
