Jackson Family Home

Michael Jackson, The Jackson 5

1971

The Story

This property in Encino was bought by Joe Jackson in May 1971 and became the family's first permanent home. Michael lived here until he was 30, when he bought Neverland Ranch in 1988, and it was in the studio built on the property that he recorded demos and unreleased tracks from Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. Michael bought the house from his father in the early 1980s and spent two years renovating the place. The property remains in the family to this day and is a pilgrimage site for fans who leave tributes there.
