The Story

This cultural space, located in the South Commercial Sector (Setor Comercial Sul), is one of the main drivers of artistic occupation and nightlife revitalization in downtown Brasília. Emerging as an intervention project in the bureaucratic heart of the city, Canteiro transformed a predominantly commercial area into a hub for social interaction, art, and live music. Its program is diverse and democratic, hosting everything from traditional samba and chorinho rodas to nights of indie rock, afrobeat, reggae, and electronic music parties with local producers. The SCS, as a whole, has become, in recent years, Brasília's new alternative hotspot, receiving 200,000 people daily and replicating on a small scale the phenomenon of Rua Augusta in São Paulo and Lapa in Rio. With an urban aesthetic, an open-air space, and a welcoming atmosphere, Canteiro Central reaffirms Brasília's vocation to reinvent its public spaces through music.
