Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Eddie Van Halen
1970
This studio opened in 1970, becoming the elite location for pop production in the 1970s and 80s. It was in Studio A that Michael Jackson, alongside producer Quincy Jones and engineer Bruce Swedien, recorded parts of *Off the Wall* in 1979, and a good portion of *Thriller*, including the session on April 14, 1982, when Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney recorded "The Girl Is Mine" together. On October 4, 1982, Eddie Van Halen recorded his historic solo for "Beat It" in Studio B. It remains active today as Westlake Recording Studios.
