The Story

In the 1980s, the space of the former cinema and shopping arcade on block 102/103 was called "Adega" (wine cellar) by rockers, due to a small beverage distributor that operated there, and known by the general population as "Janjão", because of the traditional snack bar on the block. More than just a shopping center or exhibition hall, Cine Centro São Francisco became one of the most important strongholds for strengthening friendship and identity among bands and members of the first generation of punk and rock in Brasília. It was on the sidewalks and marquees of this block that musicians from Aborto Elétrico, Plebe Rude, and other pioneering formations gathered daily to exchange ideas, compose, discuss politics, and plan shows. The place was a direct source of inspiration for significant compositions of the time, such as "Perdidos no Espaço" by Renato Russo. Official point on the Brasília Capital of Rock Route.
